Sanet van Tonder
Counselling Psychologist / Registercounsellor ABvC®"

About Sanet:

Sanet van Tonder is a dedicated and experienced counsellor with a strong educational background, having completed her Honors Degree in Psychology from UNISA (University of South Africa) in 2021. Prior to this, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education and Psychology. To further enhance her qualifications and ability to serve the Dutch community, she also completed the course "Counselling Psychology" through Stichting Counselling Nederland.

In her personal life, Sanet is happily married to Dr. Ben van Tonder, a Reverend and licensed Trauma counsellor, who specializes in family and marriage counselling. Together, they have been working with couples and individuals for over a decade, offering their expertise in marriage preparation and parenting workshops, and experiencing considerable success in their collaborative efforts.

Originally from Pretoria and Rustenburg, South Africa, Ben and Sanet moved to the Netherlands in 2022, where they faced the challenges of adapting to a new country and culture, as well as the unique pressures that come with immigration—experiences that have deepened their empathy and understanding as counsellors.

Professionally, Sanet employs a multi-disciplinary approach to her counselling practice, which allows her to tailor her methods to meet the unique needs and individuality of each client. This adaptability ensures that her clients receive personalized care and support, making her an invaluable resource for those seeking assistance in their personal and relational challenges.

She is a Registered Counsellor with the ABvC® (Dutch Professional Association for Counsellors) and are not registered as a GZ-psychologist or Clinical Psychologist under the Dutch BIG registration system.

As a Registercounsellor ABvC®, she provides counselling and psychological support for a range of personal, relational, emotional, and life challenges. Where specialist mental health care, psychiatric treatment, or diagnostic assessment is required, clients may be referred to their General Practitioner (GP) or an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
